MOJO Duplex Customers
Current MOJO customers Ryan and Carla are in the process of a Knockdown Rebuild, replacing their old run-down house with a new Duplex in Baulkham Hills. After purchasing their block of land and moving into the original home, the initial plan was to knock it down and build their dream 5-bedroom home, soon realising it would require major sacrifices.
By deciding to build a Duplex instead, Ryan and Carla will have double the house for half the mortgage. The added rental income allows them to maintain their preferred lifestyle, which means overseas travel and having a second child.
The couple are building the Harrington design with the Contemporary facade, which is one of the more popular designs from MOJO’s Duplex range, perfectly suited to narrow blocks. The Harrington design includes eight Bedrooms in total, two Indoor and Outdoor Living spaces, two children’s Activity’s and added benefits including a Butler’s Pantry and Walk-in Robe. Ryan and Carla are at the end of the pre-construction stage with the Knockdown happening in a matter of weeks.
We had a chat to Ryan and asked him a few questions about the experience they’ve had to date.
MOJO Homes: What was your experience with MOJO Homes during the pre-construction stage?
Ryan: Our experience with MOJO Homes to-date has been absolutely excellent. Ed, MOJO’s Duplex Specialist helped us choose the Harrington Duplex and answered all our questions about our non-standard sloping block as well as a number of other technical questions about materials and inclusions.
From that point, the selection process was seamless. The MyChoice Design Consultants helped us with the internal and external selections and the electrical, taking the time to fully understand our requirements. Everyone was so patient with us as it's the first home that we've built. Amy, MOJO’s Client Relations Consultant is helping us with all aspects of the final council approval, which should be happening soon. We’re very happy so far!
MOJO Homes: What was it about the product and chosen design that stood out for you?
Ryan: The Harrington was the obvious pick for our block and lifestyle requirements. We originally wanted to build a large standalone home, so to be able to build a duplex for approximately the same cost and still have both homes big enough to accommodate four Bedrooms (Including Master with Walk-in Robe), upstairs and downstairs Living Areas, a Butler's Pantry and an Outdoor Living really ticked all the boxes for us. That coupled with a really modern, edgy design that doesn't look obvious that it’s two separate homes made the Harrington a stand-out choice.
MOJO Homes: Did the fact that MOJO Homes looked after the DA process appeal to you?
Ryan: The fact that MOJO dealt with the DA process was a big plus for us. We both work full time with our daughter in day-care, so to have someone take the headache out of dealing with the council was a lifesaver. We'd unfortunately been burnt previously by a small, local builder before we came to MOJO and it wasn't until we started dealing with MOJO Homes who had clear processes and 100% transparency that we realised how much better dealing with MOJO was.
