In all of the excitement of planning your new build, landscaping can often be an afterthought.
Along side MYARD Landscape and Design, MOJO have shared knowledge on the three pillars you have to consider when planning your landscaping.

FINANCE

Including landscaping into your home loan is a must. You don’t want to get to end of your build and be left with a beautiful home...and dirt.

With MyChoice Home Loans, you have access to various construction loan products backed by some of the biggest and most respected financial lenders in Australia, each local team of experienced Mortgage Consultants can provide more choice and less hassle, so that you can simply relax and enjoy every special moment of the new home building journey.

When planning your finance for landscaping, the creation of a Landscape Plan allows you to manage and breakdown the cost of each element within your design. This ability allows you to control the construction process of the project from a budget perspective if required.

LANDSCAPE PLAN

A professional landscape plan will allow you to understand all aspects of planning your landscapes design including budget, compliance and approvals, enabling your vison to become a reality.

A landscape designer or architect will use their knowledge to guide you on technical, structural & engineering advice, softscape ratio & easement restrictions of your block of land.

Most structural elements of a landscape design require some form of approval either via your local council (DA’s) or with a private certifier (CDC’s), this approval process can be difficult to navigate and understand, engaging with a landscape designer or architect is a fundamental way of ensuring your plans comply with local regulations.

APPROVALS

Before construction of your new landscape design can start, you must ensure your landscape design is approved by the relevant authorities.
A good landscape design needs to address a number of building codes and regulations to ensure safety and privacy for you, your neighbours, and the community.

A Landscape DA plan is Landscape documentation that is submitted to your local Council or developers for approval. It provides information that states a case that the proposed development will be in accordance with all relevant environmental legislation. It is required to ensure the minimum requirements of energy efficiency are met and the minimum requirements of Landscapes are met.

The objective of the landscape plan is to show the Council your design intent, proposed layout of landscape works, surface treatment, and that it adheres to all environmental legislation as per the Council’s Development Control Plan (DCP). This will come in the form of a Landscape Plan.

Structures including decks, pergolas and retaining walls may require approval depending on the size and details of the structure. Authorities also review the percentage of hardscape surfaces in your design as part of the approval criteria. Creating a professional landscape plan will save you time and money as we incorporate approval requirements into the landscape design to streamline the approvals process as much as possible.
