Current kitchen designs are all about making a bold statement while keeping functionality and ease of use in mind. Take a look at the kitchen design trends we are predicting to see in continue throughout this year and beyond.

EXPANSIVE WINDOWS

Expansive windows included in kitchens that merge indoor-outdoor spaces are predicted to be an ongoing trend. The use of natural light and the merging of indoor and outdoor spaces have been gaining popularity in recent years, and it is expected to continue in the near future. The concept of opening up spaces to blur the line between indoor and outdoor living is increasingly being incorporated into contemporary home designs, and the kitchen is no exception. MOJO MORE homes include a window splashback as standard, which allows more natural light into the kitchen and provides a peaceful view of the outdoors while preparing meals.

ORGANIC ELEMENTS

Organic elements will continue to make their way into kitchen design through natural stone benchtops, wooden look cabinetry and metal accents.

TAPS

A trend we don’t see going anywhere is statement taps. Feature taps in different finishes, from brushed metals, to chrome and everything in between, will be perfect for those who want to add some personality to their kitchen.

Goose neck style taps will also be in demand, as they provide a practical and functional option for those who want to use their sink for a variety of different purposes. These taps have a high spout that allows you to fill up larger containers like pots and pans with ease, while also providing enough clearance for you to wash your dishes and clean your sink with ease.

SIMPLISTIC SHAKER

The Shaker style of cabinetry is known for its simplicity, clean lines, and functional design. Slimming down and streamlining the cabinet doors is a great way to breathe new life into Shaker style cabinetry and create a fresher, more contemporary look. A matte finish or a high gloss lacquer can create a more modern vibe, while still maintaining the simplicity and functionality of the Shaker style.

SMART STORAGE

Smart storage solutions will continue to evolve and prioritize convenience and organisation in the kitchen space. These solutions may include smart shelving and cabinets with adjustable features that can hide toasters, coffee machines and crockery. Soft close hinges are an unseen but key element to smart storage, especially when little people may be about.

SPLASHBACK SPOTLIGHT

Feature splashbacks have stood the test of time and will continue to be a staple of kitchen design. A simple and effective way to make a bold statement and add glamour all whilst being a functional addition to the kitchen.

Natural textures like stone can give a rustic, earthy vibe, and can often be found in Urban, Global and Coastal styled homes. Bold patterns and geometric shapes, along with marble, dominate Luxe styled interiors add a layer of creativity to the space. Clean lines such as the ever popular subway tile continue to be a staple in Contempo design, while Classic homes revert to heritage looks such as glossy squares in muted colours.
