Spring Styling

The weather is warming up and we have put together some tips on how to transform your home for the change of season. While a lot of us have worked from home within the past 18 months, it is important to make your home feel like a sanctuary – a place you feel uplifted, comfortable, and inspired.

NEUTRUAL TONES

Spring encourages a cleaner and brighter style. Calming colours in earth shades like brown, burnt umber, terracotta, beige, taupe and tan take us back to nature and are said to give us courage to embrace change. These warm, natural tones are perfect to pair with colours such as sage green, pale pink and inky blues.

NATURAL FIBRES

Natural Fibres bring a Global influenced trend with wood, jute, rattan and woven accessories.  Both functional and applicable in every room of the house, from bathroom to the kitchen.
Rattan is having a much-awaited moment in the spotlight. Coming in a world of finishes, styles and looks you can mix and match different pieces to create an authentic look.
Woven baskets are one of the most versatile decor pieces. Ranging in shapes and sizes, and not to mention the amount of different textures and designs, baskets are a great way to add both textural and natural fibres to a space.
Use the baskets to store extra throw pillows or blankets or tuck your favourite houseplant inside to instantly create a stylish planter.

TEXTURES

Add texture and depth into your space by layering rugs. Highlight an area by layering a small rug on top of a larger one that directs the eye to that specific space. In large spaces, layering rugs can be a great way to anchor the space in which your furniture sits. Whether you are layering a colourful rug over plain carpet or a mottled hide over a jute rug, this offers the perfect opportunity to bring in bold colours and patterns.
Woven wall hangings are an easy way to bring a touch of texture and detail to walls. Try using a wall hanging to create a feature that your eye is immediately drawn to. Coming in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colours and patterns your options are endless. Or get creative and follow a Youtube tutorial and create your own.
Mix and match layers of different fabrics across bedding to create texture. Adding a tight knitted blanket with a loose, soft throw at the foot of the bed will create depth and a sense of warmth.

CURVED SHAPES

Curved shapes create a kinder and more welcoming space. With a significant move towards rounded shapes particularly through furniture such as cocooning corner sofas, bedheads and coffee tables your room will complement the straight lines and square corners in your home.

NATURE AND NURTURE

Although it’s been a trend for several years, decorating with house plants is an easy way to add visual interest into a room. Whether it’s real or faux, adding a few houseplants to your space can liven up a room and bring outside, inside.

COLOURED CABINETRY

2021 has seen the addition of darker and earthy toned cabinet finishes. Natural finishes like wood colours and neutral paints like grey, beige or green are gaining popularity.
Add a pop of colour into your kitchen landscape with green cabinetry which provides many options from bright and bold to the calm and subdues shades like sage, olive and mint.
